Why we start with processes.
A business is the sum of its processes. Everything you sell, someone does — and every piece of software you buy exists to carry one or more of those processes. The data in your systems is not separate from the work: it is what the work gives off.
That is why the same flaw shows up twice. When processes are not explicitly connected, the systems that carry them are not connected either — and neither is the data. The business that struggles to be efficient and the business that struggles with data quality are usually the same business, for the same reason.
